Beauty
Beauty is in the eye they say,
Calmly I pluck it out
And find beauty in the scream
The piercing sharp of it
The spilling gurgling fountain of
Your mouth and eye
Beauty is only skin deep.
I peel it back to look beneath
Purple blue coiling art forms
writhe and spill
I find beauty in the agony
The thresh and moan.
But then it fades
Your beauty is gone
It is fleeting after all
It seems all beauty fades
Even the deep red pool of you
Turns black and ugly.
I start again, searching.
Seeking in the cut and thrust
Of modern life old truths
A young man smiles
A gleaming wink of yellow metal
Is all that Glisters gold?
