I wrote this when I was 14 but I still like. In fact I wrote most of these poems around then.

Riding Dragons

The buses of reality
Fight the dragons in my dreams
The noise of screeching tyres
Drown the mighty lizards screams
Sunlight passes through my guise
Of fearless knight in black
And leaves me riding my bicycle
Down dusty concrete tracks.

My Dragon, once proud and mighty
Turns to rusting in the shed
A sad and lonely end for one
Who has countless battles led.
A victory for reality,
But my dragon is not dead,
And I with him still lead battles,
But only in my head.

Time cannot take my fantasies
Just put them in their place
What if a dragon rider is needed?
I should keep them just in case.

Ahhh, The death of the imagination. A sad thing to die.

I think this applies to so many of us, but you make it so poignant, tragic. Oh! You have rekindled my memories of reading as a child, the 'only one' into fantasy, etc. If only I had known of Elfwood then, I could have been less alone. Thank you, once again your poetry has shifted my perspective. You should still write poetry.

Good thinking. We're goona need those dragonriders someday, I know it.

*awwww* its like the dragon is losing faith or something.... that's so sad, to lose what was once there, and to stop believing... I am 14, and I will never stop believing! I will believe in everything and anything, and no one will ever take that away from me. This was a really nice poem, and your flow was really nice. With your first two stanzas though, you may want to split those 8 lines up into 4 lines and 4 lines... because the last stanza that is 4 lines is all alone... just a suggestion ^.^
*faery gets on the dragon*
*dragon takes off*
*faery squeals and laughs*

I love this poem, I hope its ok with you if I recite it in front of my class. If it isn't, then you can comment on my page to tell me, or you can e-mail me from my page or contact me in any other form. But when i ran across this the other day, i thought it would be perfect to recite (we have to memorize poems every once in a while and this time we got to choose our own). Thanks for writing a great poem!

Fantastic! Where would the world be without Dragons to keep us entertained.
